The Duho Panel
Made from pure archival safe materials, this panel is our best seller. We take care and pride in making the Duho Panel and use no metal fasteners, which are susceptible to rust, wood discoloring, and wood distortion. Since maple has shown to be far superior to other hardwood plywood’s we use only high quality 1/4 inch maple for the panel surface. Unlike birch and luan, maple has an extremely tight grain that will not crack and flake, but will stay strong and smooth for years to come. The maple veneer has a MDF core, known for its rigidity and ability to stay flat, not warp, nor does the veneer release any out-gassing. The Duho Panel also includes solid pine sides mitered at the edges to form a virtually seamless cradle. We have selected the use of pine for its value, reliable grain pattern, and ease of painting or staining. These panels provide an excellent rigid support for oil, encaustic, tempera, acrylic, enamel, collage and experimental painting. Each Duho Panel is lovingly handcrafted by the Duhovich family, using only the best materials to give the best value to the customer. * The panel sides range from 1.5 to 3 inches in cradle depth depending on the panel’s surface area. Crossbars are also added for extra support for panels over 24 inches in length.
